Brick Books → Guides → Travel Log
Recording trips to the post office, stock pickups and other business travel, in kilometres or miles.
If you drive for the business, Brick Books can keep a record of where you went, how far you travelled and what the trip was for.
There are three ways to enter the distance, starting with the quickest:
Tick Return trip and Brick Books doubles a typed or looked-up one-way distance.
It does not double a distance calculated from odometer readings, because those readings already cover the journey you actually made.
You choose this during setup and Brick Books uses that unit everywhere afterwards.
If you picked the wrong one, change it under Set Up → Travel Log.
Record trips when you make them, or catch up regularly while the details are still fresh.
A travel log built from actual trips is much more useful than trying to reconstruct months of driving from memory at the end of the year.
Brick Books records the trip, the distance and what you said it was for.
It does not decide whether a journey is deductible or which vehicle-expense method applies to you. That depends on your country and your circumstances.
The finished travel log gives you, or your accountant, the record needed to work from.
